Seraċini Għawdxin were awarded a corner in the 6th minute after Floriana Celtics's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Neil Degabriele took the corner. In the 8th minute, Godwin Montesin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Song Wei Yun's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mats Sangolt read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. In the 40th match minute, Floriana Celtics was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Giorgio Caruana to maneuver through the defense.
